Monte Carlo simulation on event-by-event base of calorimeter experiments with uranium/scintillator layers using the hermes code system
Detailed Monte Carlo simulations were performed for test experiments of the ZEUS detector. For this purpose the newly developed HERMES (high-energy radiation Monte Carlo elaborate system) code system was used. The calculations were done by bombarding the calorimeter modules of thin uranium/scintillator layers with 5 GeV π- and e - beams. Results on the contributions of each shower component on event-by-event base are given. A short description about the main features and physics of the HERMES system is also presented.
