Modeling of dynamic processes in solar wind by the large particle method
Abstract
The paper is concerned with the possibility of using the computational method of macroparticles for modeling the principal large-scale processes in solar wind, such as stretching of the solar field, formation of high-velocity plasma flows, and formation of regions of increased variability of the magnetic field. A computer program based on the macroparticle method is described which makes it possible to calculate solar wind parameters near the earth and the geomagnetic activity from magnetic fields measured at the sun for the periods of minimum solar activity. Results of geomagnetic activity calculations are compared with observations for March-May 1987.
