Estimates of the variations of the optical thickness of the Venus atmosphere from the "Venera-13" and "Venera-14" data.
The quantitative estimates of possible transient (≡1 h) changes of the optical thickness of the Venus cloud layer are obtained by means of the solution of the radiative transfer equation. The previously published results of "Venera-13" and "Venera-14" television and spectrophotometric measurements are used as the initial experimental data. For λ = 0.62 μm the parameters obtained earlier within the framework of a stationary atmosphere are compared with those of this work which account for possible changes in the atmosphere during the descent of the probes.
