A computer-driven astronomical telescope guidance and control system with superimposed star field and celestial coordinate graphics display.
Abstract
A unique and novel device is proposed which can display computer generated, multiintensity star images and other graphics in the eyepiece of an astronomical telescope. These graphics are superimposed upon and synchronized with the actual sky image. A prototype, constructed and tested to demonstrate the feasibility of the system, is described. A number of novel applications of the device are then proposed.
