(Liquid + liquid) phase equilibria and critical curves of (ethanol + dodecane or tetradecane or hexadecane or 2,2,4,4,6,8,8-heptamethylnonane) from 0.1 MPa to 120.0 MPa
Abstract
Solution temperatures of four (ethanol + an alkane) mixtures were measured over the pressure range from 0.1 to 120.0 MPa in an optical high-pressure cell using the synthetic method. The alkanes used were dodecane, tetradecane, hexadecane, and 2,2,4,4,6,8,8-heptamethylnonane. The Simon equation was fitted to the p( T) isopleths and the Ott equation to the T( x) isobars. The influence of chain length and number of methyl groups on the critical curves is discussed in comparison with the (methanol + a normal alkane) and other families.
