V745 Scorpii

H. W. Duerbeck, H. E. Schwarz, and T. Augusteijn, European Southern Observatory, report: "The spectral evolution of V745 Sco was monitored in 1989 August, using the ESO 3.5-m New Technology Telescope and 1.5-m telescope (range 370-820 nm, resolving power 1500). In the rich emission line spectrum, lines of forbidden Fe VII, Fe X, and Fe XI have been seen since Aug. 4; they reached maximum strength in mid-August and have now faded considerably. The 683.0-nm symbiotic feature was always present. In the red region, TiO bands of an M6-6.5 III star have emerged. V745 Sco shares many features with RS Oph; its spectral development is, however, four times as fast."
