Twin spectral lines in the diagnostics of luminous objects
Abstract
A technique for the diagnostics of artifical clouds (frequently used for the study of the upper atmosphere) is proposed which is based on the correlation of light-emission intensities during transition from a single excited state to two different lower states. The transition from optically thick to transparent conditions for luminous artificial clouds is evaluated. The effectiveness of the twin-line technique in determining the inner structure of artificial clouds is demonstrated.
