The dynamic and kinematic activity of secular geomagnetic variations.
Abstract
An integral approach to the separation of the activity of secular geomagnetic variations into drift (kinematic) and nondrift (dynamic) components is proposed. This made possible a quantitative comparison of the activities in terms of changes in the intensity of field sources and their drift. It is shown that kinematic activity correlates with changes in the earth's rotation rate, while dynamic activity correlates with solar activity.
