Determination of maximum usable frequency using the Internal Reference Ionosphere (IRI)
Abstract
Electron density profiles from the IRI are used to calculate the maximum usable frequency (MUF) for different locations of the reflection point and radio path lengths. It is shown that the MUF achieves its maximum value at specified angles of radio wave incidence on the ionosphere.
