Interaction of short waves in a barotropic atmosphere
Abstract
The Cauchy problem for barotropic atmosphere equations is analyzed for low Mach numbers. An asymptotic solution with respect to the Mach number (M much less than 1) is obtained which describes the interaction and generation of rapidly oscillating vortices. A new model equation is obtained which describes the formation and evolution of a twophase vortex; the equation is a nonlinear pseudodifferential equation on a torus.
