The growth and properties of (Sb/x/Bi/1-x/)2Te3 crystals
Abstract
Vertical Bridgman systems with programmable temperature control are used to grow (Sb/x/Bi/1-x/)2Te3 crystals. SEM and electron probe microanalysis are used to analyze the microstructure and the compositions of the crystal. The dependence of crystal structure and the thermoelectric characteristics on the changed compositions of grown crystals are discussed. The optimum composition for the thermoelectric properties is Sb(1.00)Bi(1.04)Te(2.96).
