A note on the origin of stars which are far from the Galactic disk
Abstract
Consideration is given to Sasselov's (1988) study on the origin of stars in the Galactic halo with variability similar to that of UU Her. The motion of a Galactic disk star is compared to a globular star cluster passing through the disk in a plane perpendicular to the direction toward the Galactic center. The results suggest that UU Her and similar stars are deflected from the Galactic disk by globular stellar clusters during their motion around the Galactic center.
