Is Cosmic Drift a Cosmic Myth?
Abstract
Systematic variations are likely to be induced in the mass-to-light ratios of elliptical galaxies. A similar but smaller effect may also exist for spirals. This environment-dependent effect may be misinterpreted as a component of the peculiar velocity field on large scales.
