NGC7027 - a New Abundance Analysis of the Ionized Shell
Abstract
Results are presented on an intensive study of the NGC 7027 spectrum obtained with an echelle spectrograph equipped with a CCD at the coude focus of the 3-m Shane Telescope of the Lick Observatory. The elemental abundances calculated for the NGC 7027 are presented and compared with those of the sun and the mean PN abundances. It was found that the composition of NGC 7027 does not differ significantly from that of the 'average' PN. It shows the usual excess of C over O and the depletion of O with respect to the sun, supporting the conclusion made by Bowen and Wyse in 1939 that the chemical composition of NGC 7027 does not differ markedly from that of the sun.
