Mass transfer in a binary gas jet
Abstract
Results are presented from an effort to employ the combined laser/hot-wire measurement technique in the simultaneous measurement of concentration and velocity within the developing region of a free binary gas jet. The experimental data obtained with this apparatus cast doubt on the suitability of the conventionally employed jet equations for the jet's near-field characteristics; the neglect of the near jet field's turbulent mass flux terms, in particular, appears unjustified.
