Modeling turbulent heat transfer in impinging jets
Abstract
The paper deals with the modeling of the mechanism for convective heat transfer enhanced in the stagnation-point region for both round and square jets impinging on a large flat plate. Large-scale turbulent structures of the oncoming jet are examined from the viewpoint of the surface-renewal effect of large-scale eddies impinging on heat transfer surfaces. The enhancement of the stagnation-point heat transfer is described by a surface-renewal parameter, which is the product of the characteristic intensity and frequency determined by a statistical analysis with conditional sampling.
