Coded mask X-ray observations of SN 1987A from Mir.
Abstract
The authors report observations made of the supernova SN 1987A with the TTM coded mask imaging X-ray telescope on the Mir-Kvant observatory "Röntgen". Upper limits for the flux below 20 keV from SN 1987A are below the extrapolation of the higher energy emission observed from the region by other instruments, implying a cutoff or change of slope. Useful limits can be placed on the density of the region into which the supernova is expanding.
