Analogies at low redshift for QSO absorption line regions
Abstract
Recent observations have added some precision to the knowledge of QSO absorption line regions. These new data suggest inadequacies in the standard picture that halos of normal galaxies are sufficient to explain many of the absorption line systems. Rather, extended active star formation around galaxies may be the best way to describe the absorbing regions.
