Nonlinear excitation of fluctuations in the concentration of chemically active components due to the propagation of atmospheric waves
Abstract
The paper is concerned with the problem of the kinetics of a chemical reaction taking place in a medium with a periodically changing temperature. It is found that, in addition to fluctuations synchronous with temperature fluctuations, the concentrations of the components taking part in a bimolecular reaction are subject to low-frequency fluctuations whose period is independent of the period of temperature fluctuation and determined solely by their amplitude. Such an effect is not observed in dissociation-type reactions.
