Experimental and theoretical investigation of e-beam pumped Xe-Cl lasers
Abstract
Parametric investigations of the energy and spectral characteristics of spontaneous and induced emissions from the XeCl molecule due to excitation of an active medium by an electron beam are reported. Results from XeCl molecule spontaneous luminescence are presented which make it possible to determine boundaries of a number of relaxation constants and to establish their connection with laser transition saturation intensity. Direct measurements of a weak signal amplification factor are given, and the properties of some absorbing components of visible and UV regions are discussed. Spectral characteristics of spontaneous and laser radiation are considered, and physical factors determining the generation spectrum in a dispersionless resonator are determined. Results of parametric investigations of generation-specific characterisitics are presented and compared with calculations from the complete kinetic model.
