Apertures of ring quadrupoles and sextupoles
Abstract
The required mechanical dimensions (apertures and lengths) of the Amsterdam electron accelerator quadrupoles and sextupoles are analyzed. The stretcher mode operation and the storage mode conditions are discussed. The beam excursions due to misalignments are indicated. The chosen quadrupoles parameters are, at the curved section, l (yoke) = 18.0 or 17.78 cm, l (eff) = 21.2 or 21.0 cm, aperture = 7.5 or 7.62 cm; and at the straight section, l (yoke) = 25.0 cm, l (eff) = 29.7 cm, aperture = L1 cm. For the sextupoles the suggested lengths are l (eff) = 20.1 or 19.9 cm.
