An experiment study of a turbulent cross jet
Abstract
Results are presented from an experimental study of the turbulent mixing of two jets at 45-deg to each other in a cross flow. The flow is noted to involve the partial stagnation of the crossflow velocity component, which is then followed by an elliptical jet's development downstream of the stagnation region. Attention is given to the development of the intensity of turbulence and the kinetic energy distributions, which are the most unusual aspects of the flow; the exact mechanism of this turbulence generation is not known.
