Dynamical states in thermal lensing
Abstract
Dynamical states (steady, periodic, quasi-periodic, and subharmonic) of a thermal lens are described. Hysteresis is observed in the transition between periodic and quasi-periodic oscillations. The control parameters are the laser power P and a distance d. The boundaries of the dynamical states are given in the plane (P, d). Properties of the dynamical states and of the transitions between states are discussed.
