Ferromagnetic film on the surface of a superconductor - The possible appearance of inhomogeneous magnetic ordering
Abstract
A system consisting of a massive superconductor and a thin ferromagnetic metallic film on its surface is considered. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the magnetic ordering in the film may resemble a small-scale domain structure. This ordering corresponds to the minimum system energy if allowance is made for the interaction between the magnetic moments and superconducting electrons penetrating the film from the massive superconductor.
