Measurement of charged-particle concentration in a flame plasma with a cylindrical Langmuir probe
Abstract
A method is described for using the volt-ampere characteristics of a cylindrical Langmuir probe to determine concentrations of charged particles in a dense slowly-moving flame plasma. The equations presented make it possible to determine charged-particle concentrations in plasmas with electric Reynolds numbers of the order of several units. The agreement found between the particle concentrations obtained from volt-ampere measurements and the values obtained from spectral measurements was satisfactory, with the probe values being on the high side.
