Searching for periods in sources with rare pulses
Abstract
The problem of discovery and estimation of a period that slowly changes in time is considered, for the case when the pulses are rare. Several criteria are proposed on the basis of which a multilevel algorithm for period detection is constructed. The reliability and precision of the period determination are investigated, also considering the correlated errors of corresponding values of criteria.
