Growth properties of YBa 2Cu 3O 7 single crystals
Abstract
YBa 2Cu 3O 7 single crystals were grown from CuO sbnd BaO f;ux for investigation of the growth process. The morphology of the crystals and the solidified mixture prepared in alumina crucible under different conditions was studied by optical microscopy and SEM. The chemical composition in the solidified mixture was analyzed by electron microprobe. From these results we concluded that the growth process might be explained on the basis of traditional flux growth when taking the consequences of low flux portion into account. The low portion of flux might be important for successful growth because of its high chemica reactivity.
