An orbifold divided by a multielement discrete symmetry
Abstract
The heterotic string is compactified on the orbifold divided by a multielement discrete symmetry, which is obtained as a quotient space of a torus by its discrete symmetry G _{N} consisting of more than one element. The projection onto G _{N} invariant states in the presence of the constant background field Ã _{I} is discussed. In the search of Z _{3}orbifold models of twoelement discrete symmetry, several interesting models are found. The gauge symmetries of them are SU (3) ⊗ E _{6}, E _{6}, SU (3) ^{3}, SU (3) ^{4} and SU (3) ⊗ SU (6). The lists of the representations to which chiral multiplets belong are given also.
