Elastic Scattering of Positive Kaons on Polarized Deuterons at 1.5 Gev/c.

The analyzing power and differential cross section for the elastic scattering of positive kaons from a polarized deuteron target at 1.5 GeV/c have been measured. A simultaneous measurement of the analyzing power for kaon-proton quasi -elastic scattering has also been carried out. The data were taken using the Target Embedded Large Acceptance Spectrometer at the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics, Tsukuba, Japan. The results are compared with a Glauber model multiple scattering theory prediction based on the elementary kaon -nucleon interaction.
