Cumulative phenomena associated with the pulse loading of conical targets
Abstract
The compression of a fusion plasma in a conical target by a metal impactor is investigated via computer simulation. The mechanism of the acceleration of the impactor surface that is turned toward the cone is investigated, and the effect of the ratio of the impactor thickness to the base diameter on the hydrodynamic parameters of the resulting flow is examined. Results are presented for a lead conical target loaded by an aluminum impactor.
