Anomalous behavior of monatomic steps during the reversible (1 x 1)-(7 x 7) structural transition on an atomically clean surface of (111) silicon
Abstract
Superhigh-vacuum reflection electron microscopy was used to investigate the behavior of monatomic steps on an atomically clean surface of (111) silicon. It is shown that a significant atom redistribution occurs during the reversible (1 x 1)-(7 x 7) structural transition.
