Non-LTE calculations of O II line strengths in early-type stars
Abstract
Non-LTE line formation calculations based on the "complete linearization method" have been undertaken for the O II ion in early-type stars. Equivalent widths have been predicted for visible region transitions in 15 multiplets for effective temperatures from 25000 to 35000K, logarithmic gravities of 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5, microturbulent velocities of 0 and 5 km s-1 and logarithmic oxygen abundances of approximately 8.3, 8.8 and 9.3. Non-LTE line strengths are larger than corresponding LTE values, differences becoming increasingly significant for stronger transitions.
