A solid-state actively mode-locked ring laser with autoillumination waves
Abstract
The amplitude and frequency characteristics of a YAG:Nd(3+) rotating solid-state ring laser (SSRL) with autoillumination waves are studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that the method of autoillumination effectively reduces the competition between counter-propagating waves and makes it possible to obtain stable beats in the SSRL. The use of autoillumination waves in actively mode-locked SSRL offers certain advantages over free-running operation.
