Hyperchaos in a simple model for a laser with a saturable absorber
Abstract
A model for a laser with a saturable absorber was developed. First, a bifurcation analysis was carried out near a codimension-two point in a laser with a saturable absorber, where the cavity behaves as a bad cavity. In a second step, the equations were reduced to a normal form that makes it possible to locate the heteroclinic orbits. Finally, an algebraic equation is obtained together with simple conditions for the eigenvalues, making it possible to delimmit regions in parameter space where hyperchaos can be found.
