Infrared spectrum of N-chloromethylenimine
Abstract
N-Chloromethylenimine has been produced by the pyrolysis of N-chloroazetidine, and its infrared spectrum was observed in the gas phase. The CN double bond stretching band was observed to be weak, whereas the NCl stretching band was found to be the strongest among all the observed absorption bands. Force constants were calculated by an ab initio MO method, and the relative intensities of the infrared bands of the in-plane modes were qualitatively well reproduced.
