Calculation of geodetic coordinates from earth-centered, earth-fixed coordinates
Abstract
A simple refinement is proposed for Gersten's (1961) method for the conversion of earth-centered, earth-fixed (ECEF) coordinates to geodetic coordinates. The refinement, which involves conversion of the appropriate geodetic position back to ECEF and calculating the exact error in order to adjust the geodetic position, allows greater accuracy to be achieved when using 60-bit precision. A second adjustment is recommended when using 120-bit precision.
