Characteristics of coherent tunable emission from the Al2O3:Ti(3+) crystal
Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the emission characteristics of an Al2O3:Ti(3+) laser pumped by a 2-J Nd-glass laser (wavelength, 532 nm; pulse width, 30 ns). The results have been used in developing an industrial laser with a quasi-longitudinal pumping scheme. The laser is tunable over the range 690-930 nm, with an efficiency of generation in the selective resonator up to 15 percent and a divergence of 1 mrad. The laser can also operate in the second harmonic mode (350-450 nm) with a conversion efficiency of up to 12 percent and in the mode-locked regime with a pulse width of 100 ps.
