Relationship between the spatial characteristics of irregularities of the temperature distribution of charged and neutral particles in the day-side midlatitude F-region
Abstract
The simultaneous appearance of mesoscale and large-scale irregularities in the temperatures of charged and neutral particles in the lower F-region at middle and low latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere was investigated on the basis of AE-C satellite data for January 1974. It is shown that, for all the temperature distributions considered, the most intense irregularities are mesoscale (lambda = 600-800 km) and large-scale (lambda = 1000-1600 km) irregularities of wave type.
