Redistribution of plasma-density disturbances during the evolution of ionospheric irregularities
Abstract
The paper examines the initial stage of the evolution of weak ionospheric irregularities in a strong convection electric field in the case of continuous vertical variations of ionospheric parameters typical for the high-latitude ionosphere. The spatial structure of plasma-density disturbances in the E and F layers is calculated. It is shown that the initial stage of the evolution of the ionospheric irregularities is characterized by an increase in their maximum amplitude along with stretching, fragmentation, and rotation of the spatial disturbance structure with height.
