Effect of oxygen on the properties of a yttrium ceramic
Abstract
Specimens (60x60x60 cu mm) of a yttrium ceramic have been synthesized and characterized with respect to impurities, structure, and superconducting and magnetic properties. Low-temperature treatments are proposed which lead to the degradation of the superconducting properties of the ceramic resulting from partial oxygen removal and to the recovery of these properties. The mechanism of an increase of spin paramagnetism in copper with oxygen depletion is examined.
