Photographic observations of the vertical distribution of ozone in the stratosphere from the Salyut 7 orbital station.
Abstract
The photographic technique used on Salyut-7 to determine the vertical distribution of ozone in the stratosphere is described. Vertical profiles of the ozone concentration and the aerosol extinction coefficient at a wavelength of 550 nm in the stratosphere determined using this technique during September 1985 are presented. It is concluded that the proposed technique can be used, in conjunction with airglow measurements, to investigate the stratified structure of the stratosphere.
