Characteristics of Rayleigh wave formation in the presence of nonstationary half-plane vibrations
Abstract
Waves in an elastic half-plane are examined for the case of the periodic distribution of displacements and stresses along the boundary. The contribution of the harmonic Rayleigh wave to the nonstationary wave field generated under the effect of initial conditions or surface loads is analyzed. The conditions under which no Rayleigh waves are excited are defined.
