The theory of an accretion disk/ neutron star boundary layer
Abstract
The theory of a boundary layer around a standard neutron star with one solar mass and a radius of 10 km is considered. Underlying assumptions about the dynamics and structure of the boundary layer are examined, presenting equations and their approximate solutions. The parameters of the turbulence in the boundary layer are estimated according to standard laws of the semiempirical shear turbulent theory. It is suggested that the results obtained are of a general character and may be applied to other objects by simple renormalization of the free parameters in the problem (mass, radius, and luminosity).
