What Ferric Oxide/Oxyhydroxide Phases Are Present on Mars?
Abstract
First the authors separated the velocity and light curve solutions. The mass ratio was found to be q_{sp} = 3.0325±0.0055 and q_{ptm} = 2.804±0.022, respectively. The spectroscopic solution was based on a Roche model. With the main jointparameter "mass ratio" fixed at q = 3.0186±0.0053 which is the weighted average of q_{sp} and q_{ptm}, the simultaneous solution was finally found for the light and velocity curves. The absolute dimensions of U Peg are R_{1} = 0.75 R_sun;, M_{1} = 0.39 M_sun;, and R_{2} = 1.24 R_sun;, M_{2} = 1.17 M_sun;. Both components are nearly on the main sequence on the log(R)log(M) diagram. The overcontact degree of the common envelope of U Peg is about 19%.
