What Ferric Oxide/Oxyhydroxide Phases Are Present on Mars?
Abstract
First the authors separated the velocity and light curve solutions. The mass ratio was found to be qsp = 3.0325±0.0055 and qptm = 2.804±0.022, respectively. The spectroscopic solution was based on a Roche model. With the main joint-parameter "mass ratio" fixed at q = 3.0186±0.0053 which is the weighted average of qsp and qptm, the simultaneous solution was finally found for the light and velocity curves. The absolute dimensions of U Peg are R1 = 0.75 R_sun;, M1 = 0.39 M_sun;, and R2 = 1.24 R_sun;, M2 = 1.17 M_sun;. Both components are nearly on the main sequence on the log(R)-log(M) diagram. The over-contact degree of the common envelope of U Peg is about 19%.
