Characteristic scale of convective turbulence and normalisation of shear stress in a radiation-dominated region of the accretion disk of black holes.
Abstract
The effect of radiative heat transfer on thermal convection in the radiation-dominant region of the accretion disk of a black hole is investigated. It is shown that convective turbulence in this region must be small-scale and that the shear stress induced by turbulence should be normalized according to the radiation pressure. It is also shown that angular momentum transfer outward is determined mainly by turbulence.
