51 Ophiuchi (B9.5Ve) : a Be star in the class of beta Pictoris stars ?
Abstract
Data from UV, visible, and IR observations of 51 Oph are compiled in tables and graphs and analyzed. The energy distribution is shown to be normal in the UV and visible but to have a large IR excess; these findings are interpreted with reference to a theoretical model comprising an optically thin circumstellar dust layer at 130-1000 K, similar to that around Beta Pic. The density of the dust is found to decrease with increasing radial distance, following a power law with index -1.3.
