Charge exchange and ionization of atoms through collisions with multiply charged ions
Abstract
The paper examines single-electron transitions in continuous and line spectra induced by the collision between an atom and a multiply charged ion with a charge Z greater than 3. The charge exchange reactions are investigated on the basis of an analytical method which is an extension of a decay model and an approximation specifying a nonadiabatic relation between two states. Approaches to calculating charge-exchange and ionization cross sections for ion-atom collisions are considered.
