Modeling of scalar transport in turbulent shear flows with a spectral manipulation technique
Abstract
The purpose of this contribution is to describe a novel technique for the prediction of scalar transport in turbulent flows using the Lagrangian or random walk approach. This technique is based upon the spectral manipulation of a succession of random numbers, such as to obtain a behavior which reproduces the structure and constraints of a turbulent flowfield. Results have been obtained for homogeneous and sheared turbulent flows and show the interest of the approach in comparison with the traditional Lagrangian one.
