Muses-A and a concept of future lunar probe
Abstract
The Japanese Muses-A space engineering spacecraft has been designed to conduct a double-lunar swingby in preparation for an eventual International Solar Terrestrial Physics program-related Geotail mission. The Muses-A spacecraft will carry a small satellite for insertion into orbit around the moon before its first lunar swingby. Attention is given to mission objectives, orbital design, and spacecraft system design. Mission objectives encompass a lunar interior study using penetrators and surface remote sensing for minerals identification.
