Elements of plasma physics
Abstract
Individual and collective plasma processes are introduced. The Maxwell and Boltzmann equations are presented. Plasma frequency and cyclotron frequency are explained. The motion of individual charged particles is considered. The role of binary collisions and relaxation at thermodynamic equilibrium of a totally ionized plasma is discussed. Gain theory and the functioning of a Langmuir probe are mentioned.
